At the Martial Arts Hall of Fame event in May 2024, Master Kung Fu Dmitry Prosvirov had the pleasure of meeting Sumya Anani, a celebrated figure in her own discipline of yoga and aerial fitness. Dmitry, along with his fellow Kung Fu instructor Dmitry Fimin, participated in a seminar led by Sumya, where they had the chance to experience her teachings firsthand. Sumya, known for her expertise in Kundalini and Hatha yoga, is a passionate advocate for finding joy in movement, and her energy and positivity left a lasting impression on all attendees. She was also recognized at the event as the Female Pro Boxing Champion of the Year, further showcasing her diverse accomplishments.

Sumya’s journey includes her work at Sunflower Gyrotonic and Yoga, where she helps individuals embrace the beauty of movement through yoga and Gyrokinesis. As an instructor at Learning2Fly, she teaches aerial silks and aerial yoga, offering a unique blend of physical and spiritual exercise to students of all ages. Her teaching philosophy encourages participants to explore their full potential and connect with their bodies in meaningful ways. A former adjunct professor of physical education at Johnson County Community College, Sumya is a 4-time world champion boxer who brings her passion for movement and health into every aspect of her work.

Dmitry and Sumya connected over their shared commitment to helping others achieve their best selves, both physically and mentally. The banquet following the awards ceremony gave Dmitry an opportunity to reflect on the power of diverse disciplines like yoga, boxing, and Kung Fu in contributing to personal growth. He looks forward to future collaborations with Sumya and expanding his understanding of how different forms of movement can complement traditional Chinese martial arts.
