August 3, 2024 – Burbank, LA County, CA – Dragonfest 2024, a renowned charity event organized by the founder of the Martial Arts Museum, Michael Matsuda, brought together martial artists, enthusiasts, and cultural performers for a day of celebration and learning.
Kung Fu Master Dmitry Prosvirov had a blessed time participating in seminars alongside legendary martial artists such as Kickboxing Champion Don "The Dragon" Wilson and Kickboxing Champion Sensei Benny "The Jet" Urquidez, among many others. These sessions provided invaluable insights and techniques, enriching the participants' martial arts journey. The event was a vibrant tapestry of cultural performances, starting with a mesmerizing Chinese lion dance, followed by a salute to the American flag and a prayer led by a priest. The cutting of the red ribbon marked the official opening, followed by an Armenian dance show, traditional Japanese live music and dances, a captivating Chinese face-changing show, and an awe-inspiring performance by Cynthia "Lady Dragon" Rothrock.
Master Prosvirov attended the event with his son, Mark, who is a 9-year-old Taekwondo Brown Stripe belt and has a deep appreciation for martial arts movies and styles. Mark enjoyed the event immensely, exploring the various activities and meeting some of the martial arts legends his father admires.
"It was a joy to share this experience with my son," said Master Prosvirov. "Mark's enthusiasm for martial arts is inspiring, and events like Dragonfest help to deepen his appreciation and understanding of the art."
The event introduced attendees to martial arts through dozens of booths set up by different schools and individuals with backgrounds in action movies and various martial arts disciplines. The atmosphere was positive and uplifting, fostering a sense of community among martial artists and enthusiasts alike.
Master Prosvirov and his son collected souvenirs from not only but as one of it, the Musashi booth, which featured beautifully crafted swords and other weapons. The food truck outside the building also offered delicious food, adding to the overall enjoyment of the day.
"Dragonfest was a fantastic experience," Master Prosvirov reflected. "Meeting friends, masters, and grandmasters of different styles, and participating in such a rich cultural event with my son, made it truly memorable."
Dragonfest 2024 was not just an event but a celebration of martial arts and cultural heritage, bringing together people from all walks of life to share in the joy and discipline of martial arts.
