25 years of honoring the legacy and culture of martial arts. The anniversary celebration
On November 16, 2024, the Martial Arts History Museum marked a significant milestone: 25 years of honoring the legacy and culture of martial arts. The anniversary celebration was an extraordinary event, gathering the finest martial artists from around the world who have built strong connections with the museum over the years.

Founded by Michael Matsuda, the museum has been a cornerstone of the martial arts community, serving as a hub of inspiration and education for enthusiasts of all styles. My son, Mark, and I had the privilege of attending this special occasion and sharing in the festivities alongside some of the most respected figures in martial arts.

The event was a vibrant celebration, featuring live music, a stand-up comedy performance, and a captivating video documentary chronicling Michael Matsuda’s journey and the museum’s 25-year history. It was inspiring to see so many of the greatest martial artists, all gathered to celebrate Michael’s achievements and show their love and respect for him and the museum.

The energy throughout the evening was incredibly positive. My son Mark thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people, and for me, it was a blessing to reconnect with old friends from the martial arts community. Sharing the day with masters of various styles and systems was a reminder of the diversity and unity that martial arts brings to our lives.

This year’s celebration was made even more special by the museum’s recent move to a new location, now four times larger and better equipped to serve the martial arts community. The expanded space symbolizes the museum’s growth and the strength of its mission. It was truly a joy to celebrate this achievement with everyone present.

One of the highlights for me personally was listening to Michael Matsuda share his story. It was fascinating to learn about his journey, starting with Kung Fu, transitioning to boxing, and eventually exploring various martial arts styles to master new aspects of the craft. Michael isn’t just a preserver of martial arts knowledge—he is a true fighter who embodies the discipline and spirit of martial arts…
