Hun Gar animals: Leopard

Key word is speed. Leopard plays with its prey, as a cat with its toy. Leopard is not as strong as a tiger, but the absence of hard, powerful strikes allow him to move much faster. Positions are long, but frequently changing. Leopard uses a counterattack, therefore it applies simultaneous block and attack, which is very effective. Levels of strikes, as well as positions, change frequently.

That is why top level attacks can be rapidly replaced by sweeps, and after that you attack the top or medium level again. Leopard punches with fist, by “eye” of the fist and "leopard paw" - it is not as strong as a fist, but has the advantage of speed and accuracy.

Biological rhythms

Ancient people said: “If you live according to the Qi energy of the Heaven and Earth, you will live as long as Heaven and Earth live” ("Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon"). The Earth rotates around the Sun, the Moon revolves around the Earth, the high tide of the sea is followed by ebb, night comes after day, winter gives way to spring as spring to summer. It is clear, that in nature everything moves by it's own rhythm.

From a physiological point of view, the human is a highly organized, multi-cellular organism with strong life-support systems. The human body lives by it's own biological rhythm. We are awake during the day, because our blood is filled with 'daytime hormones' that support emotional and physical activity. In the evening, preceding nightfall the blood receives the 'night hormone' melatonin. This is an amazing substance that is produced only by epiphysis at night and it is released into the blood according to the time of the night. In some cases, seniors suffer from insomnia due to the lack of melatonin secretion. Melatonin medications are often used as hypnotics.

The difference in our attitude toward children's training is in the physiological and psychological differences between a child and an adult. The child has just begun to explore the world and does not have a clear understanding of the context of training. As a result the child has little self-discipline and understanding of what is needed in any action (exercise). At first he puts his interest in the activity and puts his trust in the teacher. At this stage an important mission is assigned to parents and instructors – to maintain interest and to transform a desire into a habit.Kids2

Transforming to the beast

Hung Gar animal forms are not individual styles or sub-styles. These are short combinations that add emotion to your way of fighting. A Warrior chooses an animal according to his own psycho-physical qualities. If you have fast and light legs, then the Crane form is what you need. If you have great physical condition, then you have to fight as a “tiger”.

Hun Gar animals: Tiger

Have you seen tiger's hunt? It creeps and then attacks its prey stabing claws in it. You should do the same with your adversary. Tiger is characterized by sharp hits and powerful attacks, because the tiger represents the strength. By the way in China the tiger, and not the lion, is the king of beasts. Using short movements in low stands tiger at first makes offensive hit to break through the defense, and then applies a series of two or three strikes for the final victory.

The Way Of Kung Fu (2012)

It would be silly to condemn the modern culture - we will get that which we were hoping to attain. These days, the greatest financial gain is received by those who can come up with the most effective product. Nevertheless effective does not deep in its meaning. For example, roller-coaster rides certainly are fun, but riding them every day can lead to brain damage.

We don’t consider two half-naked men with overinflated muscles competing in the ability to maim each other to be martial art. The traditional martial arts is much deeper. Martial art - is the overcoming of one’s weaknesses, the battle with self, with shortcomings, and is the way of improvement of self.

Foolish are those who see only the surface for you can not judge the strength by the size of muscle nor can you judge the technique by the effectiveness of methods. The truth is in simplicity.

Kung Fu - not a sport, Kung Fu - is a life path of improvement and excellence.

Golden Dragon never gets bored! (October, 1012)

When our school opened the doors in Brentwood, one of LA's neighborhoods, we had an excellent idea how to spread the word about us to locals. And did that in a very fun way. We offered everyone to help us to build the Golden Dragon... of the chopsticks! Look how beautiful it is, isn't it?
We got a lot of friends after that. Brentwood residents are very joyful and kind people. Now they come by to the studio and say: “Hey, do you remember me? I built the Golden Dragon with you!”

Productive Adults

As adults we get jet jobs, families, kids and every day we try to find enough time for each one. However, we also need not forget that we must find time for ourselves as well and stay healthy in order to be needed and to assist others if the situation arises. Maximum efficiency and highest rate of productivity is what we strive for, since time is always of the essence. Proper training will help you stay on top, both physically and mentally and always be needed by others.
