Kung Fu Blog
- At Golden Dragon Martial Arts School, the only thing we love more than kung fu is teaching others to love kung fu as well. This is why we hold such high esteem when promoting our students and awarding them for a job well done. On May 7, 2016, we held our 2nd Annual Golden Dragon Award Ceremony and Demonstration at our Santa Monica location. While all of our students exhibited exceptional growth and improvement, our shining stars were the young Pandas who have been moving up the ranks as fast as greased lightning. Our two youngest pupils, Emma Dorner and Zoya Kalinsky, were awarded with the titles of Dragon Warriors, making them the youngest to receive the titles at our school.
Kung Fu is a very difficult art that requires many years of practice, but (in my opinion) it's also the most beautiful and useful art.
Kung Fu is not just a martial art where you kick and punch, kung fu is much more than that. It's a lifestyle, and it's the lifestyle that I most recommend. To learn that style, the first thing you should do is stop thinking and let your teacher guide you along the way and the tradition of Kung Fu by having complete confidence in him.
Kung Fu is divided into more than 300 types but all have the same philosophy in common. The end of Kung Fu is to teach self-discipline and self-control.
- When looking for a martial arts school it is very easy to be blinded by flashy names, colorful belts, and the promise of learning Bruce Lee moves. It is even more of a challenge to weed through the numerous options available in a city like Los Angeles especially when you have a precocious 5 year old who is taken in by martial arts. But for those of us lucky enough to have been welcomed into the Prosvirov family at Kung Fu of Golden Dragon, we surely understand the value of the gem that is hidden on Santa Monica Boulevard just passed Bundy. My family and I came to the school looking for an alternative to my daughter's physical therapy in January after searching for a bilingual Russian and English school, and in just two months the progress we have seen has been nothing short of astounding. Unlike in any other school, both my wife and I (I am 40) were able to sign up for lessons as a package with our daughter - turning kung fu into a family activity with the three of us partaking in classes together. It has become the highlight of our week.
Even in youth, some kids struggle with what to give their moms for Mother's Day. At Golden Dragon Kung Fu School, our students will be giving one of the best gifts a child can give a parent; a sense of pride in their accomplishments. On May 7th, we will be holding our 2nd annual Kung Fu awards Ceremony at Kung Fu of Golden Dragon, and once again, all students are welcome and invited! Event time from 1:00pm-3:00pm
LOS ANGELES February 18, 2016 -- Kung Fu of Golden Dragon has been selected for the 2016 Los Angeles Award in the Martial Arts School category by the Los Angeles Award Program.
Each year, the Los Angeles Award Program identifies companies that we believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and our community. These exceptional companies help make the Los Angeles area a great place to live, work and play.
- No matter our culture, race, class, or upbringing, one thing most people can agree upon – we LOVE it when Winter ends and Spring rolls around! Many cultures have their own way of celebrating this momentous annual event (much like Americans and Groundhog Day), and Russia is no different. Preceding the upcoming celebration of Lent, Russians celebrate one of their oldest surviving holidays, called Masletnitsa, or Crepe Day. Kung Fu of Golden Dragon will be bringing this fun tradition to its students on March 12th as we seek to increase awareness and knowledge of our school's founders' history and customs.
